| New Program | |
| Redlands has a new reading, writing and maths program which is now available in the Cleveland and Capalaba region and is available to anyone who does not have these basic work and lifestyle skills and is eligible for this fully funded help. This program was developed by Career Employment Australia (CEA) as a hand on real life at work experience and is available to anyone eligible who want to improve their skills and it all starts with a referral for a pre training assessment which is available from Centrelink or a job services Australia provider. The Basic eligibility for this new learning program is: Be of working age (15-64) and registered with Centrelink as a job seeker, but must not be on a skilled migration worker visa.( Some specific condition however may apply). 1. You will need to discuss your interest with your job network provider, Centrelink or on the CEA Language Literacy and Numeracy hotline (1300-245-645) and seek a referral for the pre training assessment so your level of personalized assistance can be identified and developed. 2. CEA developed this innovative “ hands on “method of learning for the Language Literacy and Numeracy program (LL and N) and were awarded a contract by the department of education and employment and workplace relations to deliver this service throughout much of Queensland including Cleveland, Capalaba, Coorparoo and Wynnum Manly. In Cleveland and Capalaba, this program is promoted by REPS for the period 2010 – 2011 “as a focus of the Helping Our Own Jobs Fight Back initiative”, in an alliance with other community bodies. Supporters of the program include: • REPS • Bayside Bulletin and Redland Times • The Cage & Youth Space • Max Employment • Bayside at Cleveland • Victoria Point and Capalaba • Employment Services Queensland Capalaba. The local retail sector, with the assistance of open promotions in shopping centres, who are members of the Redland City Retail Association are strong contributors to the campaign as well. Enquires can be initiated by using the Helping Our Own (1300-687-696) or even REPS at (328-648-55) as well as the CEA Language Literacy and Numeracy hot line (1300-245 -645). | |
